When the sick came to Jesus, what did He do? He didn’t pray for them… He spoke! And He spoke with authority.
It says in Matthew 9:6 (NLT) — 6 “So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
Jesus healed with authority and he also spoke with authority. Luke 4:32 (ESV) — 32 “and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word possessed authority.”
Jesus had authority and then an amazing thing happened. He sent his disciples out giving them authority to heal the sick. (Mark 6:7, Luke 10:19). When they returned all they could do was speak of the amazing signs and wonders they had seen.
And it didn’t end there for He then gave you and me authority to heal the sick. It says in John 14:12 (NLT) — 12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” So, if you have received Jesus as your Savior, you can heal the sick.
And to confirm this authority given to us, in his last words before leaving earth he said… Mark 16:17–18 (NLT) — 17 ”These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages…and they will place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
You and I are called to pray for the sick and see them recover and we can be confident in this; that Jesus has not changed in this, for it says in Hebrews 13:8 (NLT) — 8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Next time you pray for healing with someone, have faith knowing that it is the Father’s plan for us to pray for the sick and see them well.
Healing Rooms are a wonderful training ground for building faith for healing. Up until covid, when we closed our doors, we were seeing ongoing demonstrations of Jesus healing people and setting them free, just as the bible says we should.
If healing the sick is something you feel drawn to, you can register for our Training Day. All the information and topics we will be covering are on our website. Looking forward to hearing from you.
