Jesus died on the cross NOT so we could cope but so we could conquer and be set free.

We have so many people who come to our Healing Rooms that need to be set free. Part of this is that they usually have someone in their life that they have not forgiven. In many cases this bondage of unforgiveness has gone on for years, such that their hearts have been hardened, one drop at a time.

Most of you may say that you don’t have anyone you have not forgiven. To know for sure, the test is to ask yourself, “Is there anyone in your life that you hope bad things will happen to?”

Unforgiveness is a very powerful negative emotion. When you continue to harbour unforgiveness it leads to bitterness and that easily moves into anger. This anger then gives the devil an access point in you. Scripture says in Eph. 4: 6 “In your anger do not sin:  Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.”

Unforgiveness is empowering your past at the expense of your future. If you seek restitution it is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

So you need to forgive in order to be set free. But where do you start? The first thing to do is to take the backpack of your unforgiveness off your back and give it to Jesus and tell him,” I don’t want to carry this around anymore. It is yours.”

For some of you, the depth of pain that you have suffered from someone is so deep, you may not be ready to do this. If this is you, what you can do is ask the Lord to help you to get to a point where you want to forgive.

The Lord knows how big and sometimes how difficult unforgiveness is, but he tells us in Romans 12:19 – “Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God.

Jesus, in his last words on the cross said, “Forgive them for they know not what they do.”  Jesus knew the love of the Father for every person and because he walked in that love, he was able to forgive all those who put him on the cross.

I pray you can experience the love of the Father that will help you forgive those who have harmed you because the Father loves them too.
